Crochet Today Holiday 2007

I was very excited when my issue of Crochet Today arrived in the mailbox–one of my projects, the flowering necklace, made the cover! Yay!

I also contributed this retro boy hat which I really ended up liking. I think I worked the stripes a zillion times to get just the right combination. It’s made with Red Heart Soft, which was actually pretty nice to work with and comes in a lot of colors– good to know if you have a lot of giftmaking on your list.

In other news, I signed up for two knitting classes in town so that I can learn to knit hats- one is a chunky earflap hat, and one is in the round. I’m mosty interested in the in-the-round one, but I signed up with a friend and we could both use a refresher.  There weren’t a ton of crochet classes on offer (which maybe I can fix), although at the competing yarn shop, there are. They’re so inexpensive that I just might have to sign up for all of them.

yay! congratulations! i’m going to Border’s today, so hopefully it is on newsstands already. if not, i’ll keep an eye out until it is…

and as a totally sucky, never-finish-a-project knitter, I’m a huge fan of in the round hats. they are the only things that I’ve not only managed to finish (in 5 hours or less!), but I thought were nice enough to give as gifts (good crafty gifts for men/boys, or girls who don’t care for tote bags or other sewn goodies). can’t wait to see yours! and try out your awesome crocheted hat once i can get that mag in my grabby little paws.

Congrats on the cover! I got my issue in the mail on Monday. I actually have my eye on making the hat for a couple of people on my gift list. I really like the necklace, but I’d have no place to wear it.

Congratulations! The cover? Wow, very impressive! I can’t wait to make the necklace for myself, and then brag about it when people ask. Keep up the awesome work.

Linda, I love your stuff! I came over from Posie’s…I live in Helena and my absolute favorite place in Yellowstone is sitting on the bench, overlooking Yellowstone Lake, with the sun going down on my back (oh, whilst knitting at the same time). I think I hear the park calling my name….

Robin– I haven’t been to Helena yet, but I want to go. You’ll have to tell me where to go when we do make a visit if there are any interesting shops. :)

congrats, linda! it’s stunning! really. :) and making the cover…superb.

knitting in the round is so addicting. will you be learning to use double pointed needles? i thought they were a bit beastly at first, but i actually learned to *adore* knitting with DPs. very strange! it gets a nice rhythm going that i love and can’t really explain. :P

Hooray! You’re a published professional craft lady :)
That flower necklace is awesome to look at.

I once stayed in an amazing hotel in Pray Montana which adjoined the Chico hot springs. I highly recommend it for a romantic getaway. It’s righ near Tetons national park too.
